APU Commemorates Holy Week with Stations of the Cross

by Abigail E. Peck

Commemorating Jesus' final day on earth, Azusa Pacific University exhibits the Stations of the Cross on West Campus in the Duke Hallway. This series of artistic depictions coincide with the Stations of the Cross in Jerusalem. Each year during Lent, and especially on Good Friday, thousands of Christians retrace the route of Jesus through the streets of the Old City of Jerusalem, many carrying small or large wooden crosses. The Stations of the Cross allow us to reflect upon Jesus' suffering, death, and resurrection throughout Holy Week. It is a liturgical way to reenact Jesus’ journey as a meditation of worship and an act of devotion to God.
