Mission Statement

The Student Center for Reconciliation and Diversity (SCRD) holds as its primary mission to support the university’s larger mission of God-honoring diversity. SCRD designs and implements a continuum of programs and services that promote recruitment and retention, leadership development, and the pursuit of academic success and graduation. SCRD’s efforts expand cultural awareness and create an open and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff in order to promote and model racial reconciliation, unity, and an appreciation of all cultures.

    The Department of Higher Education welcomed Shaun R. Harper, Ph.D., professor in the Graduate School of Education, as the featured speaker of the Critical Issues in Higher Education seminar in late summer.

    Sarah O’Dell ’16 is an academic, who loves to learn. She loves the process of becoming broadly educated and believes it is connected to her calling. Her proficiency in research led to acceptance into MD/Ph.D. programs with still more interviews.

    “The idea just came to me,” said Lauren Meyering, ’17, cinematic arts major and director/writer of Foolish Smarts and How to Lose Them, a student film produced as one of APU’s senior capstone projects in the Department of Cinematic Arts.
