Q & A with Cory

How has APU transformed you?
APU has really had an impact on me academically, personally, professionally, and spiritually. Within the classroom, I was able to learn and be challenged by professors who not only were passionate about the subject matter, but also about who I was as a person and how they could partner with me in that season. Personally, I was able to grow and develop through the deep and lasting relationships I made on this campus with peers, professors, mentors, and campus pastors. I expanded my résumé and add to my professional portfolio with leadership opportunities that APU offered. Additionally, I was able to grow deeper in my faith because of the amazing support and guidance I had here. This is a campus that actively searches for ways to engage the world and make a difference for Christ, and I am so grateful to continually be a part of that story.
Which activities at APU have you most enjoyed being a part of?
I loved being a part of Communiversity. They share my wanderlust and my passion for the outdoors. One of my favorite memories was being able to surf with Woody, one of APU’s campus pastors. It was so cool to connect with him and share some waves, but also talk about the Lord and how we can live out his calling on our lives and further the Kingdom.
What advice would you give to prospective students?
Dive in! Don't be afraid to be vulnerable and make mistakes. Now is the time where you find out who you are and how God is going to use your gifts and talents to build up the Church. Meet new people and make time to share you story with others. Try something new! Be creative and pursue your dreams. Don't forget to study, but also don't forget to have some fun.
How do you spend your free time?
I love spending time with my wife, going to the beach, hiking, or exploring new places. I love to travel and learn about new people and new cultures. I love hanging out with good friends, and surfing or snowboarding together. Going to APU football games is also something that I really enjoy! I love theology and having deep meaningful talks with people. I also love taking naps and eating pizza because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t!
