Q & A with Jake...

How has APU transformed you?
APU has been a place that has transformed my idea of community. I have been changed by how welcoming the community is. I learn and grow from those around me everyday about what it looks like to be a man of God. This is a place that values each individual and their purpose here, and it is felt.
Which activities at APU have you most enjoyed being a part of?
I have loved being a part of the mentoring program on campus. It has been awesome to walk through life together with a student. I have gotten as much out of mentoring him as I would hope he has gotten out of being mentored.
What advice would you give to prospective students?
Try your hardest to enjoy the process of finding the right university for you. Between figuring out what you are going to do after high school and enjoying your senior year, there is a lot on your plate. The decision process itself is going to challenge you and help you grow in so many ways. Be intentional about reflecting on what you want out of a university experience as you start to fill out applications. Take time to pray through your decision and do your best to discern what God's plan is for you.
How do you spend your free time?
I love riding my bike, hanging out at the beach, making and drinking coffee, and camping. My perfect day would go like this: I wake up in my tent by the coast as the sun rises. The first thing I would do is grind up some coffee and make a fresh cup. With the embers of the fire from the night before, I warm up a bit before jumping on my bike for a ride. Naturally, my ride finishes with another round of coffee and a breakfast burrito on the beach!
