Play it Loud: APU Radio Is Back
On Thursday, September 26, Azusa Pacific’s campus radio station, KAPU, transmitted its first broadcast of the academic year.
This summer, the staff of KAPU worked to revamp the studio and install new features, including acoustical soundproofing carpet, an additional CD player, and microphone processors. In addition, the expanded music staff has been receiving an average of 100-200 new CDs every week for inclusion in the ever-growing KAPU library.
The station’s programming schedule has improved, with regular DJs filling the daytime slots and specialty programming showcased in the evening. KAPU is also offering more support and training for new DJs, as well as instituting weekly DJ meetings to familiarize the hosts with the influx of new music.
There are many upcoming events and on-campus activities hosted by KAPU. “Kickin’ It with KAPU” will be hosted on Cougar Walk every Thursday at 2:30 p.m., allowing DJs to fill the campus with music while getting to know their listeners.
Listeners can tune in to hear APU athletics events such as football, baseball, volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball games, live at 104.7 FM on campus or online.
