Fellowships
Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics Fellowships
Each year, the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics awards two fellowships to incoming freshmen pursuing a four-year degree in applied mathematics, mathematics, or physics. The fellowship gives exceptional students financial support ($3,000 per year for four years) and special opportunities to help optimize their APU experience. Fellows serve as tutors, teaching assistants, and/or research assistants and lead seminars for students and faculty on mathematics and Christian faith, based on books such as:
- The Soul of Science: Christian Faith and Natural Philosophy (Crossway Books, 1994) by Nancy R. Pearcey and Charles B. Thaxton
- For the Glory of God (Princeton University Press, 2003) by Rodney Stark
- Mathematics Through the Eyes of Faith (HarperOne, 2011) by James Bradley and Russell Howell
- Mathematics in a Postmodern Age: A Christian Perspective (Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co., 2001) by Russell Howell and W. James Bradley
