Prepare for Medical or Dental School
Students in second-year courses BIOL 280 and CHEM 252 who are planning to apply to medical or dental school may apply for APU’s premedical/predental track. Students in this track have a high success rate for admission to medical and dental schools, becoming familiar with the medical/dental school admission process through personalized, step-by-step advising and a mock interview with the premedical committee. In addition, students have the opportunity receive a committee letter in support of their medical or dental school application.
Is This Program Right for You?
You should apply for the premedical/predental track if you:
- Would like to pursue a career as a physician or dentist.
- Would like focused academic advising in order to prepare for medical or dental school and the MCAT or DAT.
- Would like to enhance your application through assistance in preparing your personal statement and the inclusion of a committee letter.
Gain In-Depth Learning Experiences
Premedical/predental students are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities to conduct research alongside professors, participate in clinical programs at local hospitals, and go on medical mission trips to places such as Mexico, India, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. Mock interviews with premedical committees and an in-house MCAT review course taught by award-winning former medical school faculty help students get ready for the medical/dental school admission process.
In addition, students in APU's medical majors each have an advisor who assists with course selection, keeps track of academic progress, provides information on medical and dental school admission policies, and helps with any challenges that arise.
