Health Equity Program Competencies

All Master of Public Health graduates will earn a health equity concentration, giving them the following competencies:

  1. Apply principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, ethics and justice
  2. Develop a reflective public health practice through awareness of implicit bias, knowledge of diverse cultural practices and worldviews, and cultural humility
  3. Recognize the intersectionality of individual identity, population, systems and health equity
  4. Evaluate trends in health disparities by using epidemiological and statistical methods
  5. Analyze public health strategies used to create conditions of health equity in policy, practice and/or workforce development.
