Biography
B.J. Oropeza, Ph.D., is Professor of Biblical and Religious Studies and an author whose many works include, e.g., Perspectives on Paul: Five Views (Baker Academic, 2020), New Studies in Textual Interplay (T. & T. Clark/Bloomsbury, 2020), Exploring Second Corinthians (SBL Press, 2016), and Exploring Intertextuality (Cascade Books, 2016). Some of his many articles have appeared in The Oxford Encyclopedia of Biblical Interpretation, The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Bible and Theology, New Testament Studies, Journal for the Study of the New Testament, Biblica, and studies and translations in the Common English Bible and the Wesley Study Bible. He is a member of the Studiorum Novi Testamentum Societas (SNTS), founder of the Intertextuality in the New Testament Section of the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL), and currently on the editorial board for Emory Studies in Early Christianity/Rhetoric of Religious Antiquity (SBL Press). Oropeza’s specialties and interests include Intertextual studies, Pauline studies, Romans, Corinthians, sociorhetorical analytic, and apostasy and perseverance.
