Prepare for Film and TV Writing with APU’s Screenwriting Major
Azusa Pacific University’s Bachelor of Arts in Screenwriting is designed for students who are passionate about storytelling, preparing them to write for mainstream Hollywood films and television series. After learning the basics of production, screenwriting majors dive into an intensive sequence of courses including everything from Aristotelian principles of story to the structural elements found in the hero’s journey and Snyder’s beats.
Later, students have the opportunity to create a culminating work that integrates their learning in a capstone project. Such projects could include creating a screenplay or teleplay, developing an entertainment business plan, producing an animated short, or writing a major research paper.
Program Highlights
- Take seven distinct screenwriting courses in addition to cinema core courses
- Develop enhanced knowledge of both entrepreneurial and business perspectives
- Write and pitch original screenplays or pilots as student films produced by APU’s nationally recognized, award-winning production teams
